Gertrude Mary (Gerdts) Smiddy

     Gertrude Mary (Gerdts) Smiddy, 90, of Middletown, wife of David I. Hall, passed away on December 28, 2024 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. 
     

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Gertrude (Herbert) Gerdts and had lived in Middletown since the early 1970’s. Gert loved to cook and was well known for her chicken cutlets.
     

Besides her husband of 48 years, she is survived by a daughter, Susan Blair and her husband Lloyd of Middlefield; two step daughters, Roberta Matt and her husband Steve of Ava, NY, Joanne Hall of Brandon, FL; two step grandchildren, Kayla Matt, Al Sacci-Matt and his wife Shauna; a goddaughter, Barbara Betz and her husband Ed of Apalachin, NY; and extended family Keith DeYoung and his wife Kim and their children Keith and Hunter.
     

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Interment will follow at Indian Hill Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may call at the Doolittle Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
