Gerard Edward Turner, 94, of Durham, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. Born on May 28, 1931, to Cecil and Anne Turner in New London, he built a long and meaningful life rooted in dedication to family, community, and joyful humor. He was predeceased by his brother, John "Jack" and sisters Elizabeth "Betty" and Marilyn. He was also predeceased by close family friend Stephen J. Burka.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann “Nancy” Turner, and their four children: Gerard, Christopher (Lori), Jeffrey (Kathy), and Timothy Turner along with his 10 Grand Children: Regina, Patrick, Isabelle, Jack, Selma, Gigi, Brandon, Courtney, Seamus and Malcolm.
Gerry and love of his life Nancy were married on April 11, 1959, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in New London. After graduating Buckley High School in New London, Gerry proudly served in the U.S. Airforce in the 1950's.
Gerry spent his professional career as a Retirement Counselor at Northeast Utilities. Gerry worked 38 years assisting others in their retirement planning with tact, sensitivity and humor. Outside of work, he was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially when it came to his beloved New York Giants. Whether celebrating a big win or agonizing another tough loss, he brought humor, passion, and loyal spirit to every game day.
One of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, cherished family members and lifelong friends. So many memories were made filled with love and laughter, particularly at Columbia Lake, where the family vacationed each summer.
Above all, Gerard was a devoted husband, father, and friend. His family, along with all who knew him, will remember his quick wit, generous heart, and the way he could make any room brighter simply by being in it. Gerry’s legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and unwavering love—gifts he shared freely and which will continue to live on in all who cherished him.
