Francis Caroline McGrath Obituary

 

Francis Ronald McGrath (Mac) 91 of Cromwell, CT was born in Peterborough, NH on August 20, 1934 and passed away October 24, 2025, at Middlesex Hospital.  


As a child, Francis survived Polio being “The Happiest Boy of 1945” according to the Hartford Courant. He attended Vinal, was a member of the Rod Aces Hot Rod Club, had several different types of jobs as a young man before settling down with Pratt and Whitney where he worked proudly for many years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening but his passion was fixing engines big & small.


He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Ruth (Perry) McGrath, a sister Priscilla McGrath, daughters Arleen McGrath, Christine Maynard, Robin Solis and a son Edward Atkinson, grandson Ricky Bromm and his wife, the love of his life Beulah “Bunny” McGrath.    


He leaves behind his children Richard McGrath, Patrick McGrath, Maureen McGrath, Merry Williams and Ann Strong along with his brother Dennis McGrath. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren and many more family and even more friends.


Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning, Nov 5th at 10:00 am in Cromwell Hillside Cemetery West, 29 Hillside Road, Cromwell.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
