Florence Elizabeth Donohue Kennedy of Middletown, CT passed away peacefully with her children and her niece by her side on October 1, 2021. Born on December 13, 1925, she was daughter of the late George Emory and Carrie E. (Marshall) Donohue.
Florence spent her childhood in Niagra Falls, Olcott Beach and on The Farm in Middleport, NY. Florence worked as a women’s clothes buyer for J N Adams until she married Jerome J. Kennedy, Jr. on October 11, 1952. They lived their married life in Levittown, PA raising their 2 children, Michael and Colleen.
Florence was a devout Catholic and a member of the Queen of the Universe Regina Guild. She devoted her life to her children and their education as well as supporting and encouraging them in their various sports and activities.
Florence loved animals and cared for a multitude of her children’s dogs, cats and horses which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Florence loved to travel with her family to such places as The North Pole, NH, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, California, Disney World, Maine and Jamaica to name a few. One of her most memorable was the family trip to England and Ireland.
Another pleasure for Florence was to decorate her home for elaborate dinner parties, holidays and family gatherings around the fire.
Florence’s first husband of 34 yrs., Jerry Kennedy passed away in 1986. Florence was fortunate to meet and marry Richard L. Wagner in 1999 and they lived happily until his passing in 2008.
Florence is survived by son Michael K. Kennedy and his wife Kris T. Hoffman Kennedy of Newtown, PA, daughter Colleen Kennedy Cardinal of Middletown, CT, grandson Joshua M. Cardinal and his wife Katja Cardinal and their son Bobby Kane Cardinal of Osage Beach, MO, grandson Tyler R. Cardinal of Larchmont, NY, sister M. Diane Jamieson of Lakewood, CO, sister-in-law Audrey Boglioli of Long Branch, NJ, niece Carin E. Jamieson and her companion Ed Caliri, nephews Kevin and Larry Donohue, Paul and Peter Jamieson, Bernie, Bob and Billy Boglioli and their collective families, step grandchild Jackson Wagner.
Florence was predeceased by her brother Frank Larry Donohue, his wife Helen Donohue and their son Tracey Donohue.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18th at 10:00 am at Queen of the Universe Church in Levittown, PA, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.
