Eugenia Ann (Going) Brainerd

Eugenia “Gene” Ann (Going) Brainerd, 71, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022, after a long illness.  Born November 25, 1950 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Rose (Naples) Going.

Gene’s love of family, children, and animals, best describes her life. Her favorite pass times were playing cards and singing karaoke. She was an avid Red Socks fan and loved to follow baseball both on the local and national level. Her disabilities never prohibited her from making friends and meeting new people.

Gene leaves behind her husband of thirty seven years, Sanford Brainerd, sisters, Nancy Clayton (Tom) and RoseMary (Going) Frederick, nephew Michael Clayton, niece Alice Straight (Brian), great niece Nicola Straight, great nephew James Straight, two aunts and one uncle and multiple cousins. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the administration and staff of Wadsworth Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care that Gene received from them, especially Mary and Madelyn.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church, 355 Main Street, Cromwell.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: First Congregational Church, P.O.
