Elizabeth (Betty) A. Wall, beloved wife of Edbert H. Wall and matriarch, died peacefully on October 29, 2023. Betty‘s life was a happy one filled with loving family and friends. She was known for treating everyone with kindness. Betty graduated from Middletown High School and attended Wheaton College and University of Connecticut, from which she earned a degree in child psychology. After receiving her teaching certificate, she began a rewarding career teaching in the Middlefield and West Hartford school systems. Betty paused her career to raise her three children, creating loving homes both in Middletown and Westbrook and hosting memorable holiday gatherings featuring Swedish traditions. Subsequently, she co-founded and taught for many years at Christ Lutheran Nursery School. Throughout life, she was an active member of her church at which she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and co-chaired the Lucia pageant for many years. She also volunteered on the local boards of the YWCA and the American Association of University Women. Betty loved to play piano, golf, ice skate and play bridge (one group with cherished friends was active for over 60 years.) Betty inspired her granddaughters Sofie to pursue a career working with young children and Malin to follow her passion in music while her amiable personality was gifted to her grandson, Will. Betty is survived by her devoted husband Ed; her son Robert (Christina) and daughter Karen (Christopher); and grandchildren Sofie (Mary), William and Malin. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She has been reunited with her son Stephen, brother Richard, her parents, and many good friends. Our family is most appreciative of the staff at Portland Care and Rehabilitation Centre, who gave her compassionate care. We will forever be grateful for and carry on the imprint she has left on us. For all those who enriched her life, we thank you.
