Edith Sneed Barnes, 93, entered eternal rest on November 23, 2025, surrounded by family, in Mesa, AZ. Born in Middletown, CT, she was the cherished daughter of the late William L. and Christianity (Wilsne) Sneed, Sr.
Throughout her years, Edith attended Middletown Public Schools and later continued her education at the Yale New Haven School of Nursing, obtaining a degree in 1955. During that time, Edith met and married the late James Barnes. Together, they shared three children- Darryl, Elnora, and Lucinda. Though her absence causes an immeasurable ache, our hearts are equally blessed with the time spent on Earth. Furthermore, upon graduating nursing school, Edith worked at CVH from 1955-1957. Both Colleagues and Employers admired her integrity and dedication. Over the years, you’d often see Edith walking in the numerous clothing stores surrounding Main St. Without a doubt, she’d always find the children’s clothing aisle. Edith had an avid love for fashion, always dressed to the “nines” at others’ funerals and church. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars. A passion for traveling, she frequently traveled both in and out of the country, whether cruising, or flying.
Edith is survived by her three loving children: her son, Darryl and daughters Elnora (Nora), and Lucinda (Cindy), One brother, Richard Sneed, and a foster brother, Derrick Smith. Edith also left five grandchildren, Milne Minter, Isaiah Minter, Aushanti Daniels (Roberts), Meashia Daniels, and J.R (Olivia) Barnes. A special son, Albert Daniels J.R. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Al-Lezondra Daniels, Alazaron Roberts, Alexia Roberts, Joen Daniels, Ares Daniels, Jaxson Barnes, Madysyn Barnes, Malachi Minter and Ezekiel Minter, two Great-Great Grandchildren: Joseph and Jonah Daniels.
Along with her parents and husband, Edith was predeceased by one great-grandson, Al-lex Daniels. As well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Special Gratitude to Allyson Ezell- Blackman, Dawn Sneed, Kim Sneed, Aushanti Roberts and Family, and Albert Daniels, Jr.
