Dorothy (Cody) Howell

Dorothy Howell, 84, of Middletown, passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 30, 2023.  Born in White Plains, Georgia on November 4, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Willie Adolfer Cody and the late Lilly (Hillman) Cody.

Dorothy later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she met and married her late husband, Herman Howell.  She worked with her sisters, Loudella, and Lelamae at Idea Toy Factory.  Dorothy had a strong passion for painting and drawing and a love for puzzles and listening to Gospel music.

Dorothy was a proud member of the Good Samaritan Church in Brooklyn, New York.  If anyone knew “Dot, they knew she had love for the Lord and didn’t play about her God.

Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter, Evelyn Cody.

Dorothy leaves to mourn; three sons Donnie Cody of Georgia, James Cody of New York, and Junior Cody of Connecticut and three daughters Addie “Michelle” Howell, Corecca “San” Howell, and Veronica Cody, all of Connecticut. Dorothy also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, January 6th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home.  A burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
