It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dominic Thomas Zacchio on February 19, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on May 20, 1939, in Middletown, CT to Angelina (Misenti) Zacchio and Orlando D. Zacchio, Sr.
He graduated from Vinal Technical High School, where he learned the auto mechanic trade and worked in the automotive industry for a duration. Upon leaving the automotive industry, he went to work for the State of Connecticut, where he remained until retirement.
He is survived by his wife Josephine (Serra) Zacchio, children Diane, Steven and Jeffrey Zacchio, grandchildren Samantha Serra-Mercado, Danielle Baronowski, Austin Zacchio and brother, Orlando Zacchio, Jr.
A vibrant, active, and brilliant individual, Dominic lived a life full of passion and purpose. He was always on the move, whether tending to his yard work and garden, going on long walks, enjoying summer cookouts or sharing his wisdom and stories with family and friends. He enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on the porch. His curiosity and zest for life never waned, and he was a constant source of inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dominic was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. He cherished the time spent with his family, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His laughter, infectious energy, and bright personality will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 5 Saint John Court in Cromwell, CT. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation in his memory (PO Box 6003, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9902).
