Obituary

Dennis Alexander Keaveny, 85, of Westbrook, passed away on August 05, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late John L. and Julia (Moore) Keaveny.

Upon graduation from the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, he served in US Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he began his career in the Merchant Marine as First Officer and Captain. During the war in Vietnam, he sailed ammunition supply ships and received awards for doing so.  He attended St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Clinton and was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous which was a big part of his life.

He is survived by two sisters, Patsy Nelson of Saratoga, NY, Mary Lou Covell of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on August 16th at 12:00 pm at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, where full military honors will be accorded.
