Deborah Durkin (Debbie), 81, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at a senior living home, Suffield House. She was born in Hartford, CT, attended Saint Justin’s School and is a proud graduate of Weaver High, Class of 1960. Deborah is the daughter of the late Edith Mary (McGill) Durkin and Matthew Joseph Durkin, Jr. She married and settled in East Hampton, CT.
While raising her children she was a care giver of several neighborhood children and worked for the Town of East Hampton. Later relocated to a senior living community in Cromwell where she enjoyed gardening and spending time with supportive and caring friends.
Deborah is survived by her 3 children; Brian Michaud of Avon, Mark Michaud and wife Karen of Southington, Jennifer Lord and husband Richard of Suffield and 7 beloved grandchildren: Nathan, Sophia, Gavin, Grace, Matthew, Will and Addie. She is also survived by her brother Brendan M. Durkin and wife Barbara of Newington, CT and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made to the New England Donor Services. New England Donor Services is a non-profit organization that serves the community for organ and tissue donation. Contributions in memory of both Deborah and a dear family friend, Katie Coolican, a 6-yr old East Hampton resident who gave the gift of organ donation, can be made at neds.org/give or sent by check to New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451 in honor of Katie Coolican.
