David Jensen Obituary

David William Jensen was born in Middletown, CT on September 30, 1941, to Isabel Krashan Jensen and Clarence T. H. Jensen. He passed away January 2, 2023, in Grand Junction, CO.
 

Dave attended Nathaniel White School and was a member of the first graduating class of Cromwell High School, graduating in 1959. During high school, Dave participated in the High School Band, playing the trumpet, appeared in numerous plays and sang in the choir. He was a member of the 1958 Connecticut All State Chorus. Dave loved music, playing the accordion and the piano. Dave met his future wife, Judy (Andrew) and they were married in 1962. They have two children, Karen Elizabeth, and David Thomas. During the 70's Dave was very active in the Connecticut Republicans and served as Connecticut State Chairman of the Young Republicans in 1970-71. Dave was an active member of the Cromwell, CT community, a member of the Cromwell Historical Society, the Middletown/Cromwell Ski Club, the Cromwell Young Republican Club, and the Cromwell Grenadiers Fife and Drum Corp. Dave worked at Northeast Utilities and in 1975 became a very successful Realtor in the Connecticut area, before relocating to Naples, FL in 1990. He retired in 2011 and did extensive traveling with his wife and friends. They visited 25 European countries (some several times), and 43 of the 50 United States plus Puerto Rico. They moved to Grand Junction, CO in June 2017 to be close to their family. At this point Dave's Neurologist in Colorado diagnosed Dave with PSP (Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy) a more advanced disease that is similar to Parkinsons. Dave moved into the Fountains Assisted Living facility on July 1, 2020, and then on 12/16/2022 he moved to LaVilla Grande Nursing Facility.
 

Dave leaves his wife Judith (Judy) Andrew Jensen of 60 years, daughter Karen of Grand Junction, CO, son David (Tommy) and wife, Maria of Shelton, CT; granddaughter, Katie (Tim) of Grand Junction, CO, and Rachel (Brendon) Roben, Jessica, Fatima and Fernanda Fontes all of Shelton, CT; great-granddaughters Jordan and Madeline of Grand Junction, CO; and great-grandsons, Mason and Brody of Shelton, CT. He also leaves his brother, William (Fred) Stevens of Ormond Beach, FL and his sister-in-law, Sally Stevens, also of Ormond Beach, FL. He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as close cousins and longtime friends from Connecticut, Florida, South Carolina, and Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 10:00 am at the Cromwell Funeral Home.  A burial will follow in Kelsey Cemetery in Cromwell.  Family and friends may call before the service from 9:00 to 10:00 am.  A celebration of life will be held at the Elks’ Club, Maynard Street, Middletown from 1:00 to 4:00 pm that afternoon.  In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name may be made to Hope West, 3090 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
