Cindy Judy Shuler passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at her home in Cromwell, Connecticut, surrounded by close family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 69.

Born on June 15, 1955, to Nicholas and Anne Dorochin, Cindy was a deeply kindhearted woman who dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from nursing school in 1982 and spent over three decades as a Registered Nurse with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services at Merritt Hall in Middletown. Her work was grounded in a deep belief in the capacity for change, the importance of showing up for others in times of struggle, and the quiet strength of faith.

Cindy was known for her compassion, humility, tireless work ethic, and ability to face adversity with grace. She loved the beach, swimming, spending time with her granddaughters, and her beloved black lab, Chase. Cindy had a deep faith and a strong connection with the Padre Pio foundation in Cromwell, CT.

She is survived by her sister, Cathy Linbeck, her husband John, and their daughter Emily, her cousin and close friend Patricia Olbrych. Cindy also leaves behind her loving husband Barry Shuler; her daughter Katherine McGregor, husband Craig, and their daughter Molly; and her son Kevin Shuler, his fiancée Stacy Mathena, and their daughter Mina. Cindy also leaves behind many coworkers, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Anne Dorochin.

Cindy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her belief in others, and her mantra to “just keep going.”

Per her wishes, a private graveside gathering will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents. Service details will be shared with family and close friends in the days ahead.
