Charlotte "Joyce" (Riemenschneider) Feeney Obituary

Joyce Feeney (Charlotte Joyce Riemenschneider Feeney) of Cromwell, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026.  Joyce was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 7, 1946, the only child of Lou and Sarah Riemenschneider.

After spending her childhood in Philadelphia, Joyce moved to Connecticut, where she eventually married and raised her two sons, Edward Jr. and Michael Feeney.

Joyce dedicated her career to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), serving in various roles at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and later at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, Connecticut. She was deeply respected by her coworkers and formed lifelong friendships that extended well beyond the workplace. Together they traveled the world, shared countless memories, and remained close until the very end.

Joyce was also fortunate to be embraced as part of three extended families, the Heckman, Portante, and Gagliardi families of New Britain and Berlin Connecticut. She treasured the time they spent together playing cards, traveling, and celebrating life's special moments. The Feeney family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Maureen Heckman, Joyce's lifelong best friend, whose unwavering friendship, love, and care meant so much throughout Joyce's life.

Joyce embraced life with a sense of adventure and found joy in the people and places she loved. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends and family, and spending hours working on puzzles. She had a special love for children and babies, whose smiles always brought out the best in her. Never one to shy away from the sunshine, Joyce loved warm weather and especially cherished her trips to Hawaii and Disney, places that brought her some of her happiest memories.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, Edward of Middletown, Connecticut, and Michael of Middletown, Connecticut; her five grandchildren, Richard of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christopher and Fernanda of Newington, Connecticut, Ryan of Middletown, Connecticut, and Gabrielle of Windsor, Connecticut; her 1 great-grandchild Luke of Newington, Connecticut; and her cherished friend Maureen Heckman of Cromwell, Connecticut.

The Feeney family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the compassionate staff at The Atrium at Rocky Hill and the Trinity hospice team, who cared for Joyce during the last three years of her life with kindness and dignity.
