Carmine Anthony Varricchio, 94, of Cromwell, passed away on May 28, 2023, at the Village of South Farms. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Antonio and Eleanora (Colandro) Varricchio.
Carmine moved to Cromwell in 1935 and lived there most of his life. He graduated Middletown High School, Class of 1948. As a youngster, he was a very good baseball player for the Town of Cromwell.
Carmine served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He Worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Manufacturing for thirty-six years and was a member of the American Legion for over fifty years. Carmine enjoyed traveling all over the world and dining out and was known to try any kind of food.
Carmine is survived by two brothers, Anthony Varricchio and Egino Varricchio and his wife Barbara, all of Cromwell; his sister, Rosaria Hull of Cromwell; his companion Helen Kania; his former wife, Renata Varricchio and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Carmine was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Hope Varricchio and brother-in-law, Francis Hull.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 6th at 12:00 pm in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where full military honors will be accorded. Family and friends may call on Monday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell.
