Candy “Bebe” (Binnington) Valk, 72, of Portland, wife of the late Thomas Valk, Sr., passed away on June 22, 2021 at Hartford Hospital, with family by her side. Born on August 12, 1948 in Middletown, CT, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Barbara (Howard) Binnington.
Candy was a lifelong member of Trinity Church in Portland and was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She was very proud of her grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Candy will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Alicia (Valk) Currier and life partner Kyle Green and Thomas Valk, Jr. and his wife Dody (Schempp) Valk, all of Portland; three siblings, Jerry Binnington, Robert Binnington and his wife, Karen and Marisa Aletta and her husband, Frank and her brother-in-law, Robert Valk; and six grandchildren, Bree, Brenna, Thomas and Tess Currier and Heidi and Amanda Valk. She also leaves her nieces, Jennifer, Courtney, Danielle, Logan, Brielle and Brooklyn and nephews Matthew, Michael, Brett, Stephen, Jared and Ian; her lifelong friend, Judy (Barrows) Lane; her “Crazy 8” and Bunco friends and her four legged companions, Roxy and Maggie who miss her dearly.
Family and friends may call on July 16th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Trinity Church, 345 Main Street, Portland. A graveside service will follow at 11:15am in Trinity Cemetery in Portland.
