Bruce Melvin Daly, 71, of East Berlin, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in Manhattan, New York, he was the son of the late Melvin and Cecilie (Wheat) Daly.
Bruce grew up in Stamford; raised his family in Bridgeport; and later lived in Nesconset, Long Island, NY moving to East Berlin in 2021. He graduated from Western Connecticut University with a bachelor’s in communications. He was formerly a member of Stratford United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was an avid trumpet player playing in several community bands. Bruce was a hard worker, enjoyed serving others and was an active member of the church, had a quirky sense of humor, loved animals and camping and was a loving father to his two daughters. His daughters have fond memories of adventures with their dad, including camping, fishing, exploring biking and hiking trails, bargain hunting at tag sales, attending festivals, and learning lots of new board games.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Katherine Daly-Daigle and her husband Ben of Cromwell and Rebecca A. Fusco and her husband Jim of Wallingford; his sister Darleen Sullo- Piccuillo and her family of Oxford; four grandchildren Nathan Daigle, Ella Daigle, Jonathan Fusco and Angelina Fusco and his former wife Nancy Contegni Daly of Nesconset, NY.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 20th at 11:00 am at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Burial will be private in Stamford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, Connecticut Chapter, 1030 New Britain Avenue, Suite 201, West Hartford, CT 06110.
