Brenda Lolette (King) Simmons, 71, of Middletown, wife of the late Alfred “Mickey” Simmons, passed away on July 23, 2020 at her home. Born in Hendersonville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Margaret King and the late Bob Hill.
Brenda was a lifetime member of Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Middletown where she was a deaconess, missionary and part of the Unity Choir. She was employed by Bob’s Surplus stores for thirty-five years.
Brenda is survived by two children, Katherine and Rochye Simmons, both of Middletown; two sisters, Doris King and Nannie Mae Steward, all of Hendersonville, NC; ten grandchildren, Catrell Simmons and Shamayra Simmons, Vincent and Cierra Jordan, Sha-Dae Maiden, Rodney and Taeshaun Jackson, Kenaja Hayes, Rochye, Jr., and Zaire and Nazeer Simmons; twelve great grandchildren; nieces, Denise King Jackson (Frankie) and Bernita King, all of NC and Jesse Simmons of MA; nephew, Scott King of NC and great nephews, Keon King and Tyson Jackson, both of NC. She is also leaves behind her dear friends, Carol Mack, Cheryl Holley and Olivia Perry along with her dear partner, Sammie Washington and a host of many more who are dear to her heart. Brenda will truly be missed.
Family and friends may call on Monday morning, August 3rd from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown with the following mandates to be adhered to due to COVID 19, masks and six feet social distancing is required, in addition, keeping visiting to a minimum in consideration of the restricted amount of people allowed in the funeral home at one time. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 12:30 pm in Pine Grove Cemetery, 857 South Main Street, Middletown.
