Bonnie Delores (McFadden) Thompson

Bonnie Delores (McFadden) Thompson, 80, of Middletown, wife of Mark A. Thompson, passed away at Hartford Hospital on August 7, 2025. Born in Jacksonville, FL, she was the daughter of the late Russell Sr. and Lillie (Dawkins) McFadden.

     Bonnie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Howard University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She was employed for 35 years by the State of CT in DCF, CVH, and adult probation retiring in 1999.

     She was an avid fan of UConn basketball especially her lady huskies and an avid fan of the New England Patriots, especially fond of Tom Brady.

     Bonnie loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will always be remembered for her compassion and  radiant smile.

     Besides her husband, her first and only love, she is survived by her only daughter, Maisha E. McFadden of Middletown, bonus son, Craig Thompson and his wife Vivian of NY; a brother, John Dawkins of Middletown; sister-in-law, Jeannetta McFadden; four grandchildren, Ja’zmine, Jordan, Jabbar and Ju’rnee; three great grandchildren Terryon, Nalonee and Jayveon; two special friends and caretakers Rev. Ella Perry and Shante Hodges; and several nieces and nephews.

     Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Russell “Butch” McFadden, Jr.

     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21st at 11:00 am at Cross St. AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in Indian Hill Cemetery in Middletown.
