Anna Bernadina (Gigante) Damiata

Anna (Gigante) Damiata, 94, of Cromwell, wife of the late Joseph E. Damiata, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 6, 2024.  Born in Wallingford, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Theresa (Gaetano) Gigante.  Anna lived in Cromwell since 1958 and was a member of Saint John Church.

Anna worked for the State of Connecticut for 25 years. She spent several of those years working at the motor vehicle call center. She loved her job, answering questions for car dealers and the general public.

Anna loved to cook, when asked by one of her children if she stacked all of the dishes she washed over the years cooking for family and friends how far the pile would go, she replied "From here to the moon".

Anna loved to help others. When asked by one of her children how could I ever repay you for all you have done for me over the years she replied "mothers don't keep tabs on things they do for their kids. There is no bill just the hope to be able to continue to cook and help them out for many years to come.

Along with cooking, Anna loved to crochet, meet friends for breakfast and take a 2 mile walk every morning no matter what the weather was like.

Anna is survived by two sons, Joseph E. Damiata, Jr and Michael Damiata; a daughter Joann Damiata; two sisters Concetta Campoli and Florence Catapano; six grandchildren Samantha, Joey, Jennifer, Erica, Jessica and Kristofer and three great grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Anna was predeceased by a son Richard Damiata, a daughter Janet Damiata Naples and two sisters, Genevieve DeMaio and Rose Papale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 16th at 10:00 am at Saint John Church, 5 Saint John Court, Cromwell.  A burial will follow in Saint Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield.  In lieu of flowers and in honor of Anna, please take time to do something with your family.  Cromwell Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
