Allen Frederick Swanson

     Allen Frederick Swanson, 77, of Cromwell, husband of Sherry (Stoebling) Swanson, passed away on July 14, 2024, at his home. Born in Middletown on March 17, 1947, he was the son of the late E. Leonard and Neva (McDougall) Swanson.

     Allen graduated from Cromwell High School Class of 1965, attended Nathaniel Hawthorn College and the University of New Haven. Enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in 1967 and retired in 1987 as Sgt 1st Class. Allen worked for The Travelers from 1968 to 2001 and then went on to work at Genworth from 2001 until he retired in 2006.

     Along with his wife of 55 years, Allen leaves his daughter, Stacey Leigh Swanson of Bahama, NC; a son Steven Swanson and his 3 beautiful grandsons, Kyle Monarca of Middletown and Parker and Tyler Foss of NC; a sister, Leonice Tonnies of IN; a special niece and nephew, Lisa and Gene; and many additional relatives.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22nd at 12:30 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, 50 Court Street, Cromwell. Interment will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, where full military honors will be accorded. Family and friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home 506 Main Street, Cromwell.
