Allen Caplan

Allen Caplan passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, after a valiant struggle with lung cancer and pneumonia. He was the son of the late Louis and Thelma (Besnoff) Caplan.  Born February 17, 1943, Allen was raised in Hamden and was a graduate of Hamden High School and Southern Connecticut State College.  While there he met his future wife, Linda Semack.

Allen taught elementary school at Lincoln and Molloy in West Haven.  He retired from teaching in 1999.  While attending school and teaching, Allen worked part time in various local Stop & Shop stores for thirty years as cash department head.

Allen and Linda were married for sixty plus years, and after they both retired, they loved to cruise, especially with family members and good friends.

Allen leaves behind his wife Linda, sons Louis (Leah) and Jerry (Grace), granddaughters Tobbi, Aviva, and Chava.  Along with his parents, Allen was predeceased by his brothers, David and Leonard and his sister Marcia.

A graveside service will be held at the Temple B’Nai Abraham Cemetery (Hebrew Cemetery), 108 Corrigan Avenue, Meriden, CT on Thursday, June 26th at 10:00 am.  Shiva will be observed at the Caplan home on Thursday evening.
