Albert Salvatore Cubeta
(September 6, 1931 ~ August 25, 2024)
Albert’s extraordinary life began on September 6, 1931. Born in Middletown, CT to Josephine (Mancarella) Cubeta and Sebastian Cubeta, he grew up surrounded by his 9 brothers: Sebastian, Paul, John, Angelo, Joseph, Raymond, Peter, Anthony, Robert and his 2 sisters: Salvatrice (Sally) DeRosa and Patricia Geores. An avid hunter and fisherman, Albert’s playground was the fields and waterways of Middletown and the surrounding areas. After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, Al turned his passion for firearms into a successful business. This adventure came to fruition with his wonderful wife, Enza (Mazzotta) Cubeta, by his side. Al always told our family the story of how the minute he saw Enza walking down Main Street, he knew he was going to marry her. They were blissfully married for 43 years before she was called home to Heaven on November 18, 2000. Many friends of Al met him through his beloved sporting goods store. He opened his original business, Meriden Gun Shop in Meriden, CT and later expanded on Route 66, Middlefield and changed the name to Cubeta’s Field & Stream. His expert knowledge of firearms was impressive. Albert’s generous nature, wit, intelligence, and love of family was always on display. He never hesitated to help and always put family first. He employed many family members at his business through the years. Quiet strength and compassion attributed to living his life with honor.
Albert leaves behind his heartbroken family: his 2 daughters, Claudia (Cubeta) Kehrhahn of Middletown, CT, Cheryl (Cubeta) Hall of Beaufort, SC, his son-in-law, Kelly Hall, his grandchildren: Scott Terra and his wife Jana Terra of Beaufort, SC, Shannyn Hall of Beaufort, SC, Alec Kehrhahn of Middletown, CT and, Emma Kehrhahn of Durham, CT. Through the years, Al enjoyed a close relationship with his extended family and friends, and he was a wonderful brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian’s Cemetery in Rockfall, CT where full military honors will be accorded.
