Rosalind “Roz” (Scheiber) Weitz, 76, of Avon, CT and formerly of Auburn, MA passed away on Thursday December 27, 2018.
Born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Irving and Sylvia (Rosenbaum) Scheiber, she grew up in the Bronx, N.Y. She lived most of her life in Massachusetts before moving to Connecticut in 2015.
Roz was musically gifted and attended New York City’s prestigious High School of Music and Art before graduating from Adelphi University in 1962. She worked as a high school English teacher in New Bedford, MA before taking a break to raise her children. She resumed her career by working in radio advertising sales and sales management for WAAF/WFTQ radio in Worcester, MA before opening her own media buying consultancy.
She was an avid reader and could do the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle (in pen) in one sitting. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth Roche and her husband Jim of Stamford, CT and Stuart Weitz and his wife Gretchen of Middletown, CT; and two grandchildren, Emma and Jack Weitz.
The family is grateful for loving care provided by the doctors and nurses at UCONN Medical Center John Dempsey Hospital, and Hospice Hartford Healthcare.
