Robert Dennis Owen

Robert Dennis Owen, 78, of Cromwell, passed away after a brief illness on April 21, 2018 with his wife, Joyce Ann (Bragdon) Owen of fifty-six years by his side.  Born in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Marvin, Sr. and Mildred (Bailey) Owen Tharret.

Robert graduated from Manchester High School and served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960. He relocated to Cromwell where he lived for thirty years from Stafford Springs where he formerly lived.  He retired from the State of Connecticut in 2011 and had previously owned Video Gallery in Cromwell for several years.  Robert enjoyed his pet cat, Shadow, woodworking, Elvis, Tarzan books, classic movies and was an avid Red Sox fan for many years.

Along with his wife, Robert leaves his daughter, Maureen Owen and Salvatore Scalora of Cromwell and his son, Clinton Owen and his wife, Laura of Mashpee, MA; three grandchildren, Danielle Owen of Weymouth, MA, Rachel Owen and Alex Owen, both of Mashpee, MA and his brother, Hank Owen of Middletown; special aunt, Dorothy Hagenow of Tolland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many old friends.

Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by a brother, Marvin Leslie Owen, Jr.

The Owen family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital and Middlesex Hospice for the care they gave to Robert and the comfort they gave to the family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27th at 11:00 am at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell.  Burial will follow in State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown, where full military honors will be accorded.

Family and friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
