Myron Keith Craig, Sr., 50, of Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at his home. Born in Middletown, he was the son of Sylvia Craig-Lawrence of Duluth, GA and Robert Lawrence of Waterbury.
Myron lived in Vernon for the past six years moving from Middletown. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in Desert Storm. He was a Chaplin of the American Legion-Vernon Post #14 and Junior Vice Commander of Disabled American Veterans’ Post # 17. Myron was an avid fisherman, Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed music and western movies and had a legendary taste for hot foods. He was very soft spoken, but was loved by everyone he met. Most important to Myron was his family, whom he deeply loved, and he was especially proud of his two sons.
Along with his mother, Myron is survived by his two sons, Myron K. Craig, Jr. and Shylan Young, both of Middletown; stepfather, Robert Lawrence of Waterbury; two brothers, Darrell Lawrence (Beverly) and Alvin and his wife, Karen Leary, both of Middletown; a sister, Wakine West (Zambe) of Middletown; a grandson, Lorenzo Young and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 93 Main Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in the State Veterans’ Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
