Lorraine Irene (Amenta) Pierce, 90, of Middletown, wife of the late Phillip G. Pierce, Jr., passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Twin Maples Health Care in Durham. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Salvator and Elizabeth (Gordon) Amenta.
Lorraine lived all of her life in Middletown and was a member of Higganum Methodist Church. She was employed by Middletown Typewriter for several years. She had a deep love for all animals. Lorraine had a great love for life including many parties with friends and daily happy hours.
Lorraine is survived by a niece, Collette Bates of CA; two nephews, David Amenta and Steven Amenta, both of CA; several cousins including Janet Gordon of Meriden and her children, Jennifer Otis and her husband, Jeffrey and their children, Sophia and Jack and Scott Gordon and his wife, Lynnea and their children Ada and Ila.
Along with her husband and parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Alan Amenta; sister-in-law, Mary Amenta and two cousins, Ronald Gordon and Jeffrey Gordon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16 at 12:00 pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in the State Veterans’ Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Monday morning before the service from 11:00 to 12:00 pm.
