Kermit Lee Knight, 70, of Middletown, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Oak City, NC, he was the son of the late Luke and Leah (Ebron) Knight.
Kermit was a veteran serving in the United States Army and worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Manufacturing. He was a member of I.A.M.W.-AFL-CIO Lodge #700. Kermit loved playing baseball, bowling and motorcycle racing.
Kermit is survived by his son, Christopher Knight of MA; a daughter, Sanquesha Bond and her fiancé, Derrick Walton of Middletown; two stepdaughters, Sherry McDaniel of Middletown and Alasia Bond of Hartford; his brother, George Knight and his wife, Linda of Middletown; a sister, Delores Gross of Baltimore MD; a special friend, Cynthia Conner of Middletown; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents, Kermit was predeceased by his lifetime partner, Lindell Bond and four sisters, Lucy Grey Hyman, Lottie Mae Smith, Louise Williams and Olivia Hunter; and four brothers; Willie James Knight, Luke Thomas Knight, Calvin Roosevelt Knight, and Johnny Earl Knight.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Zion First Baptist Church, 16 James A. Moses Avenue, Middletown. Burial will follow in the State Veterans’ Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
