Judith Corbett-Goodstein Obituary

Judith Lynne (Bengtson) Corbett-Goodstein, 72, wife of the late Morton M. Goodstein, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Middlesex Hospital.  Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Dorothy (Page) Bengtson, Jr.

Judy was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1965. After high school, she worked as a weather girl and copywriter for WCNX in Middletown and then at Connecticut Valley Arms before taking time to be a homemaker and raise her family. She was Miss Nutmeg Camera Club, 1968-1969, Miss United Fund, 1968-1969 and a contestant in 1969 Miss Middletown Pageant.

As Judy re-entered the work force, her compassion and patience uniquely qualified her to care and teach special needs students and then become a full time caregiver for the mentally handicapped.  Judy was instrumental in unionizing one of the larger group home agencies for better working conditions and better wages for employees.  She finished out her working career at Middlesex Hospital before retiring to be a full time Nana.  She enjoyed drawing, photography and collecting ceramic frogs.  Judy loved animals and rescued countless dogs, cats, birds and turtles.

Judy is survived by two sons, James Thomas Corbett and his wife Sara and Joseph James Corbett and his wife Avery, all of Moodus; six brothers, Tommy Bengtson and his wife Kathy of Moodus, David Bengtson and his wife Marge of Higganum, Dennis Bengtson and his wife Susan of Higganum, Richard Bengtson of Middletown, Theodore Bengtson of Middletown and Timothy Bengtson and his wife Judi of Meriden; two sisters, Linda Birdsey and her husband Craig of Middletown and Lisa Frost and her husband Ron of Middlefield; three grandchildren, Hannah Joy Corbett, Harper Corbett and Hadley Corbett and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her husband and parents, Judy was predeceased by her former, Jim Corbett.
