Gloria (Place) Larson, wife of the late Richard Larson, passed away at Wadsworth Glen Health Care Center on March 13, 2018 at the age of 76. Born in New Britain, CT in 1942, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Estelle (Brown) Place.
Gloria graduated from Plainville High School in 1960. She worked as a bookkeeper for GE Madison Department Store until she was married. She raised her family and returned to work in 1986 at Bradlees Department Store in Cromwell, CT, where she worked for many years at the customer service desk. She loved working at Bradlees almost as much as she enjoyed spending most of her paycheck on the bargains she found there.
Gloria enjoyed shopping, traveling with her sisters and aunt, her beloved cat Midnight, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her childlike nature always made time spent with “Noona” adventurous and fun for her four grandkids.
Gloria is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Scott Conway of Meriden and daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and David Lord of Vernon, along with her four grandchildren, Justin Conway, Brittany Conway, Zachary Spurlin and Jacob Spurlin. She also leaves behind sisters Joan Phaneuf, of Plainville and Judith Morin of Aldie, Virginia, brother Chester Place II, of Bristol and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Wadsworth Glenn for their wonderful care.
