Eleanor Prior (Rockwell) Poole

Eleanor Poole (nee Rockwell), 93, was born in Hartford 3/4/25 and married Robert Poole in ‘44, but lived more than 65 years in Middlefield, dying 12/30/18.  Eleanor earned a B.S. from UConn in ‘68, just months after the birth of her fifth child. 

Eleanor and Bob shared their hearts, house and organic vegetables with many renters, friends, and family members; they were very involved in RC Counseling, South Church, Green Mountain Hiking Club, and the AMC. She and Bob made many wonderful memories at Goose Pond and “The Barn”. She was an early environmentalist.

Predeceased by her husband Bob (85), son Kenny (5), and daughter Leslie (49), Eleanor is survived by her son, Allan (Nancy Winship), daughters, Margaret and Laura (Morgan Lane), and three granddaughters, Lindsey, Melanie and Greta.

A memorial service will be held on April 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm at South Congregational Church, 9 Pleasant Street, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to help rebuild the dock at Upper Goose Pond in Lee.
