Elaine “Lainey” Marie (Sandstrom) Smith passed away peacefully Friday December 7, 2018. She was born in Middletown, April 23, 1951, daughter of the late Godfrey Sandstrom and the late Dorothy Galicia. Elaine grew up Portland and lived many years in Meriden.

She is survived by her son Bob Shackett of Meriden and daughter Tammy Perry of Torrington, three grandchildren, Joshua Perry, Kimberly and Ashley Shackett and a great grandson Logan. She also leaves behind her sister Cherie Zabiski of Portland, several cousins, nieces, nephews and many good friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Judy Flemke of East Hampton.
