Dorothy “Dot” Margaret (Hills) Culver, 83, of Middletown, wife of the late Daniel W. Culver, Sr., passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hills and the late Grace Hill Hills Trowbridge LaPierre.
Dot lived in the Middletown/Portland area all of her life and worked in retail, retiring at age 80 from Home Depot. She was a passionate Red Sox fan, avid reader and loved her trips to local casinos to play Bingo and her trips to Las Vegas to visit her sister and try her luck at the slot machines.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Doreen P. Culver and Debra Culver Thody and her husband, Donald; her loving grandchildren, Joshua D. Culver, Nicole A. Thody, Ashley Thody Pietraroia and her husband, Peter and two sisters, Ruth (Trowbridge) Morin and Bette (Trowbridge) Dow. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including; Barbara Culver, Kim Culver Reneson, Sandra Hills Hudson; a special friend, Debbie Doherty and some very special great-great nieces and nephews, Emma and Joey Reneson, Skylynn, Isaiah and Brooklyn Ortiz. Dot was also survived by her beloved family dog, Callie.
Along with her parents and husband, Dot was predeceased by her son, Daniel W. Culver, Jr.; her brothers, Earl, Edward and William Hills, and Charles Trowbridge; her sisters, Evelyn (Hills) Culver Marchant and Violet (Hills) Jackson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 20 at 2:00 pm in Pine Grove Cemetery, 857 South Main Street, Middletown.
Family and friends may call on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.
