Dorothea Pearl (Johnson) Dagle

Dorothea Pearl (Johnson) Dagle, 95, of Cromwell, wife of the late Walter A. Dagle, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Cobalt Lodge Healthcare & Rehab Center.  Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice (Canning) Johnson.

Dot lived in Cromwell her entire life and was a member of Saint John Church.  She was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.  After being at a lecture where Eleanor Roosevelt was speaking, Dot and four other Waves were escorted in queenly fashion into Eleanor’s waiting car where she took them downtown to the White House and gave them a tour of the presidential manor.  Dot loved to shop and enjoyed her morning trips to McDonalds.

Dot is survived by her sons, Richard B. Dagle and his wife, Pauline of Lowell, MA and Thomas J. Dagle and his wife, Julie of East Hampton; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dagle, Lindsey Gionfriddo and Kimberly Dagle; three great grandchildren, Collin Grimshaw, Lucas Gionfriddo and Dylan Gionfriddo; five stepgrandchildren, Julie Fisher, Robert Zukas, Jr., Susan Eickenhorst, Lawrence Zukas and Virginia Criscitelli; sixteen step great grandchildren and eight step great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, Dot was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Dagle; sister, Gertrude Rose and three brothers, Robert, Herbert and Richard Johnson.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 20 at 10:00 am in Cromwell Hillside Cemetery West, 29 Hillside Road, Cromwell where full military honors will be accorded.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothea’s memory may be made to VITAS Hospice, 628 Hebron Avenue, Suite 300, Glastonbury, CT 06033.  To share or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
