After a 3½-year battle with cancer and the last several months of pneumonia, Deborah L. McClellan, 69, of Cromwell, CT, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Debbie was married to David R. McClellan for 49 years and 10 months and resided in Cromwell for the last 36 years. Born in Boston, MA, she was the only child of the late Robert H. Luke, Jr. and the late Ruth Drayer.
Debbie graduated from Medfield High School and attended Nasson College, where she met her husband. She was previously employed by CREC and the Gengras Center where she was a special education teaching assistant for over 25 years. Debbie retired in 2004.
Debbie especially enjoyed watching and being entertained by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Caribbean and Arizona. Debbie also was a huge fan of the UConn women's basketball team, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Debbie is survived by her husband Dave, her 3 daughters, Heather Porter and her husband Howard, Holly Goodfellow and Heidi Hanson and her husband Justin. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Evan, Stryder and Berkeley who each had their own affectionate name for her - Mema, G'Ma and Grandma. She also leaves other family members and her yoga friends.
Debbie was warm, compassionate and loving. She will be forever missed by her loving husband Dave who called Debbie the love of his life and best friend.
A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
