Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Daisy (Miller) Winborne was called home on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at Wadsworth Glen. She was 88 years old.
Born in Harrellsville, NC, Daisy was the daughter of the late Harry Miller and Workley Hardy-Miller. A member of the historic Cross Street A.M.E Zion church, Daisy previously resided in; Wilmington, DE and Brooklyn, NY before making Middletown, CT her home in 1973. Daisy will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother who enjoyed gardening, music and fishing, but cherished her faith and family above all else.
Daisy left an impression on everyone who came into contact with her. Her infectious laugh, no- nonsense attitude, and ability to inspire those around her were hallmarks of her character. She touched the lives of those who were fortunate enough to have known her and will forever be cherished.
She is survived by four sons, Johnny Winborne of Dublin, VA, The Reverend Gregory Winborne of Middletown, Stephen Winborne of Meriden, CT, and Corey Winborne of Bristol, CT; two daughters Shirley Winborne- Brown of Christiansburg, VA, and Stephanie Winborne- Shell of Middletown, CT; her sister Ruth Walton of Guthrie, OK,; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and other relatives. She is predeceased by her husband Isiah Winborne; two children, Isiah Winborne, Jr., and Essie Winborne- Ready; four sisters, Elsie Miller, Bessie May Miller, Ginny Hardy, and Madee Miller; and one brother, Henry Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 11:00 am at Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the church.
