Concettina "Connie" Shea Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Concettina “Connie” (Mandolfo) Shea announces that she has peacefully passed away surrounded by her caring family on March 11, 2018 at her home in Cromwell.  Born on October 6, 1931 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Carmella (Abramo) Mandolfo.

Connie worked for over forty years as a legal secretary to Attorney M. Jackson Webber.  She loved to play bingo with her friends, every week finding at least one or two games to attend.  Connie loved to cook and have family dinners at least once a week.  She was always trying new recipes, but also cooked the favorites that everyone loved.  She loved traveling and renting a cottage during the summer at West Beach in Westbrook when her daughters were small and then with her grandchildren.  She always had room for her friends, her daughter’s friends, son-in-laws and grandchildren’s friends to come and spend time at the beach.  Connie just loved having her whole family there with her.

Connie will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Carol (Stanley) Pacquer of Merritt Island, FL and Karen (Stanley) Borg and her husband, William E. Borg, Sr. of East Haddam and was adored by her five grandchildren who called her “Grammy”, Jennifer Benn of Merritt Island, FL, William E. Borg, Jr., Kathryn Borg, Rebecca Borg and Steven Borg.

Along with her parents, Connie was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Mandolfo and her sister, Rosaria (Mandolfo) Valenti.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hartford Hospital Cancer Infusion Center nurses and to Hartford HealthCare Home Hospice Care for their kindness and care.

Family and friends may call on Friday, March 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Saint Sebastian’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie’s memory may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 220, Kansas City, MO 64131 or Hartford HealthCare at Home Hospice Care, 1290 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 4B, Wethersfield, CT 06109.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
