Cheryl Ann (Hrapchak) Katona

Cheryl Ann Katona, 67, of Morganton, NC, passed away on July 22, 2018. Cheryl was born July 25, 1950, in Bridgeport, CT to the late Steve and Susan Hrapchak. She resided in Connecticut until moving to Florida in 1995; and only recently had moved to North Carolina.

Cheryl graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield, CT and immediately entered the working world at Sikorsky Aircraft.  She later attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL where she committed herself to earn her Bachelors degree much later in life when others were thinking of retirement.  She spent her working time as an executive assistant for various V.P.’s with GE Capital and Tech Data Corp. Away from work, Cheryl loved the arts.  If she wasn't dancing or figure skating, she would be watching it on television.  She was a talented artist and was at peace drawing and writing poems.  Cheryl also taught Sunday school and cherished spending time with her family. She will be remembered by all as a kind, gentle, loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 17 years Paul; step-children Paul III and Ken (Angie); her son Mark (Lesley); grandchildren Elizabeth, Samantha, Jessica, Mark and Anthony "Ace"; and pets Cody and Mia.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 11:00 – 11:45 at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St, Middletown, CT 06457, with a graveside service to follow at Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln., Middletown, CT 06457.
