Brenda Diane Carr

Brenda Diane Carr, 65, of Middletown, passed away on July 29, 2018 at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain.  Born in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Zelma Ruth (Swain) Carr and William Carr. Brenda was a member of Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church.

Brenda is survived by her son, Rudolph L. Carr of Raleigh, NC; three daughters, Georgette M. Carr of Meriden, Lashawn Pritchett (Troy) of New Castle, DE and Makeba Hutley of Hartford; three brothers, William “Swain” Carr, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Percy Carr and Robert Carr, both of Middletown; a sister, Shirley Ruth Brockers of Middletown; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her son, Henry Bond; sister, Sarah Swain and three brothers, Thomas Swain, Jarvis Carr and James Carr.

The Carr family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Hospital for Special Care and to Dr. Pace and Dr. Schoonmaker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6 at 11:00 am at Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.  Brenda’s wishes were to please donate to her church instead of sending flowers.  Donations in her memory may be sent to Cross Street A.M.E.
