Obituary for Sylvia Mary Frade Costa

Sylvia Mary (Frade) Costa, 79, wife of the late Louis J. Costa, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Newington Rapid Recovery Rehab Center. Born in Gloucester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Mary (Vagos) Frade.

Sylvia lived in Middletown most of her life and worked at Middlesex Hospital as an LPN. She was a member of Saint John Church in Cromwell, a member of the Middlesex Vocal Chords for over ten years and was an avid reader.

Sylvia is survived by four daughters, Judy Bednarz and her husband, John of Newington, Sue Catullo and her husband, Alphonse of Columbia, Marianne Dipasquale and her husband, Dan of Wallingford and JoAnn Carey and her husband, David of Whitinsville, MA; nine grandchildren, Jennifer DeNovellis and Jillian Bednarz, AJ and Joey Catullo, Nichole and DJ Schrenker and Alexa, Michael and Courtney Carey; two great grandchildren, Jesse and Sicily and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Sylvia was predeceased by her sister, Rose Solwey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 29 at 10:30 am at Saint John Church in Cromwell. Burial will follow in the State Veterans’ Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cromwell
