Obituary for Helen Mary Murtha Post

Helen Mary (Murtha) Post, 96, of Middletown, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 9, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Hartford, the oldest of ten, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ina (Hayes) Murtha and was a resident of Middletown for many years.

Helen was an amazing woman and an exceptional mother and aunt. She had a strong love of family and kept everyone together for a long time. She also loved to travel, cook, bake, visit the beach and ocean, was an avid crafter and always loved being on the go. Helen will be fondly remembered for all she passed on including love of food, traveling, ocean and beach and most of all love of family.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Drewry and her husband, Jed Johnson, Deborah Drewry D’Amato and her husband, Daniel D’Amato and three siblings, Rose D’Auria, Elizabeth Frazier and Robert Murtha.

Along with her parents, her son, John “Jack” D. Drewry and her husbands, John Drewry and Francis Post and six siblings, Alice Andrioli, Katherine Murtha, Dorothy Piotroski, Lucille Vincenti, Raymond Murtha, and Frank Murtha, predeceased Helen.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. A celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
