Obituary for Geraldine Medeiros Bengtson

Geraldine (Medeiros) Bengtson, 85, wife of the late John E. Bengtson, Jr., passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Norwichtown Rehabilitation & Care Center. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Virgino and Mary (Sousa) Medeiros.

Geraldine lived in Middletown for forty-six years before retiring to Madison. She was a member of Saint Margaret’s Church in Madison where she was a Lector and hymn leader and a member of the St. Margaret’s Marriage Prep Team and St. Margaret’s Religious Education Program. Geraldine loved music and was a beautiful soprano singer.

Geraldine is survived by her son, Raymond P. Bengtson of Windsor; five daughters, Donna M. Bengtson of Norwich, Joy Mino of New Jersey, Sharon Kowaleski of Middletown, Deborah Gibbs of Georgia and Priscilla Bengtson of Cromwell; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Geraldine was predeceased by two sisters, Olivia Terva and Hilda Patenaude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 16 at 10:00 am at Saint Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Southington, CT 06498-1058.
