Obituary for Elsie Mae Moody Davis

Elsie Mae (Moody) Davis, Middletown, departed this life peacefully on November 18, 2017 at Apple Rehab, Randolph Road, Middletown. She was born May 23, 1907 in Norfolk, VA daughter of the late Charles and Daisy Mae (Small) Moody. Mrs. Davis is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John (Buck) Davis and brother, James E. Moody Sr.

She was a retired Deaconess at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Middletown and at the age of 110 years, she was always at 11:00am service and a mascot with the Travelling Centennial Choir whenever the Bishop and Co-Pastor had to preach out of town. Mrs. Davis loved the Lord and instilled that love for God in her children. Elsie’s love for children was apparent as a foster mother with the State of Connecticut for 20 plus years.

Elsie leaves to celebrate her life daughters: Virginia (Ray) Townes of Middletown, Lisa M. (Demetrius) Willis of Columbus, GA, Faith Jackson of Cromwell. Sons: Timothy (Brenda) Davis of Cromwell, Rev. Guy (Janet) Calvert of Jensen Beach, FL. Grandchildren: Pamela(Roosevelt) Steele of Middletown, Anthony (Dion) Townes of Arlington, TX, Nicole Calvert of FL, Amethris Gordon, SC, Carmichael Gordon, Cromwell. Five great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren. Special Nephews: Robert Moody of Sacramento, CA and Wardell (Ryoko) Moody of Middletown. A niece: Alice Moody of Middletown. Two very special people: Martha Robinson of Middletown, Sally Davis of Meriden and her special hairdresser of 11 years Evangelist Erica Augustine of Middletown. Many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 346 Butternut St, Middletown on Friday Nov. 24, 2017 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm the celebration of life will be at 5:00pm. The interment will be Saturday Nov. 25, 2017 at 9:30 am at Indian Hill Cemetery, Washington Street, Middletown.
